Student Outcomes Don’t Change Until Adult Behaviors Change.
School systems exist to improve student outcomes.
“Unfortunately, less than 4% of school board training opportunities focus on student outcomes to improve what students know and are able to do.”
-AJ Crabill, American education reform advocate and public speaker on education reform
Elliot and McMahon, LLC. Education Leadership Solutions understands how and why School Board members are important leaders in their school systems and hold the power to improve student achievement.
However, school boards often focus the majority of their time on finances, facilities, legal requirements, and day-to-day operations. Let us help you design a program to move your school boards from boards of management to boards of governance.
With over 37 years of education experience at the campus, district, regional, and state levels, Elliot and McMahon, LLC supports education agencies and state board associations in the development of a state-wide leadership model to transform school board leadership towards student outcome-focused governance.
Elliott and McMahon, LLC has developed a customizable, four-phase, state-wide development model aligned to leading contemporary research, allowing state agencies and school board associations to create school board governance institutes coupled with best practice implementation processes.
The four phases include the development of training materials, delivery of school board leadership institute, training cohorts of state-certified coaches, and oversite of certified coaches and renewal practices.
State-Wide School Board Leadership Model
We support state education agencies in designing customized school board leadership institutes for governing teams – school boards with their superintendents – dedicated to continually refining and cultivating their focus on one primary objective: improving student outcomes. These institutions offer a unique opportunity for governing teams committed to pushing themselves to do more for their students.
School Board Leadership Institutes
Sustainability is the key to developing state-wide systems to improve student outcomes. Elliott and McMahon, LLC provides coaching certification processes to provide the state with a coalition of individuals who can not only provide their own two-day school board leadership institutes but are also proficient in the knowledge, skills, and mindset to support the implementation of school board governance focused on achieving and improving student outcomes.
Coaches’ training consists of observations, a review of the latest industry-leading research, monthly meetings to discuss tailor-made learning materials for each district, and, finally, concludes with an in-depth calibration to ensure the fidelity of training and implementation of best practices.
